We couldn’t let the 75th anniversary of D-Day pass by without something special, so we went on a trip to the Battle of British Bunkers. A new exhibition launched at the visitor centre to mark this significant date; the display sheds light on the significant role of the Bunker and No. 11 Group during D-Day on 6th June 1944 in planning and directing tactical air operations.

The Ryefield Court residents found it really interesting but rather emotional exploring the history of the site in Uxbridge during that time, finding out about the wartime experiences of individuals based at the Bunker and learning about the organisation of the Combined Control centre to coordinate Allied fighter operations.

We rounded off the day with a visit from Cheryl King, a top vocal entertainer. Cheryl loves getting out amongst the audience, interacting and creating a wonderful atmosphere, taking you right back in time!
