November’s set to be an exciting month here at Ryefield Court, as we have five fantastic events lined up for you. Events are held on Thursdays from 6:30-7:30pm, and we’re starting the month with a saxophonist show, followed by three completely different and incredibly talented singing acts, then rounding the month off with a ukulele player. Will you be coming along?
As always, entertainment is completely free of charge, along with refreshments – we really hope to see you at our November events. If you would like to come along, please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org or call us on 01895 707 106.
We have four fantastic treats up our sleeve her at Ryefield Court for October, and we'd love to see you at one or more of our events. Whether you're into musicals, rock 'n' roll, the guitar and the fiddle, the 1950s, '60s, '70s or '80s, there's something here for you this month - and if that's not enough, we'll be rounding it off with a Halloween Magic Show! If you love Buddy Holly then you would have absolutely loved our entertainment here last Thursday – we were lucky enough to welcome a Buddy Holly tribute act through our doors, and he was a very talented man, putting on a professional, entertaining and engaging display for us all.
We went all out on the night, celebrating everything related to the late singer-songwriter, and the impersonator transported us all back to the 1950s when country music and Rock ‘n’ Roll were the highlight of the era. The residents sang songs like ‘That’ll Be the Day’, ‘Heartbeat’ and many more classics. Hopefully he’ll be back soon!
As we specialise in dementia care here at Ryefield Court, this year, we decided to take part in World Alzheimer’s Awareness Day last Friday, holding both a raffle and cake sale. All money raised on the day has gone towards helping to increase awareness of those living with the illness and the obstacles they face daily.
On the day, we had lavender bags and earrings available for purchase, which were made by some of our talented residents. The raffle was a huge success, with prizes generously donated from the local community, including lovely gifts such as bottles of wine, fruit baskets and a session with a personal trainer. The cake sale went well too, with some very tasty treats available all day.
This World Alzheimer’s Day – and every day, in fact – we want to make sure that everyone living with dementia knows that we are here for them. Our event was very successful, and we raised quite a bit of money for the charity – if you would like to get involved in any of our future fundraising events, please get in touch.
This September at Ryefield Court, we have four brilliant acts coming to dazzle us with their talent, and it really is an eclectic mix of entertainment!
Debi will be singing our favourite Motown songs, we’ll be hosting our very own version of Bruce Forsyth’s gameshow, Play Your Cards Right, we’ll be taken back to the 1950s by our Buddy Holly tribute act, and we’re finishing off the month with a Flamenco Dance Show, with Juani dancing for us, accompanied by her guitarist Mauricio!
It’s set to be a truly great month with such a wide variety of first-class entertainers here at Ryefield Court, and we hope you can come and join us to enjoy anything from one to all four of our evening events.
They are all being held from 7pm until 8pm and as always, food and drink is available at all events, courtesy of Ryefield Court. Our events are open to all, and we’d love to see you there – please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm your attendance.
Tovertafel is a fun care innovation that connects those living with dementia with each other and also with their surroundings, stimulating movement at the same time. Designed specifically with dementia in mind, these games can be played both independently and under supervision, so we decided to play the Magic Table with our residents last Friday.
The Magic Table is an activity for people living with moderate to severe dementia, and we’re pleased to say that it’s offered at Uxbridge Library. This is a weekly activity that our residents enjoy, where they can interact by using light animations that react to hand and arm movements. The activities provide a vivid and positive experience containing elements familiar to older people, and it’s great to see everyone having so much fun.
